- Ties layers together around the perimeter of the load
- Strap height and count follow the load shape
- Tension set to load weight and crush resistance
- Several levels can be strapped on the same pallet
- Runs alongside stretch wrapping and vertical strapping
Horizontal strapping runs the strap around the perimeter of the load. Where vertical strapping ties the load to the pallet, horizontal strapping ties the layers to each other.
Strap height and count follow the shape of the load, and several levels can be strapped on the same pallet.
Tension follows the weight and crush resistance of the load. A horizontal strap closes over the layers and puts its pressure straight onto the body of the pack, so on crush-sensitive products the tension is set high enough to hold the layers together without straining the case itself.
It is used on its own or alongside stretch wrapping and vertical strapping; the choice depends on which direction the load is stressed in transit.
When is it needed? On loads built in layers where individual cases tend to slide outward (particularly light, tall pallets), stretch film alone is not enough: the film wraps the load but does not press the layers together. Horizontal strapping provides that compression and keeps cases from working their way out as the pallet is turned by a forklift.

Other systems in the Pallet Packaging family
-
Stretch Wrapping
Pallet wrapping with stretch film, where load stability and film consumption are set in the same recipe.
-
Stretch Hood
A heat-free stretch film hood that closes over the top and all four sides of the load in one piece.
-
Vertical Strapping
A strapping station that binds the load to the pallet on the vertical axis.
