Depalletizing is palletizing in reverse, and in most plants it sits at the very start of the line: incoming raw material or filled packaging is taken off the pallet and fed into production. Done by hand it is the heaviest lifting in the building.

The system handles bottles, drums, HSC cases, jugs, pails and RSC cases, with product weights up to 57 kg and pallet heights up to 2743 mm, on EUR and industrial pallets.

Throughput reaches 30 products per minute, depending on pattern type, case orientation and case weight. Emptied pallets and slip sheets are discharged separately so the line keeps running.

Three depalletizing applications

What comes off the pallet decides both how it is picked up and how it is handed over to the line.

Case depalletizing

A case stands up on its own and keeps its shape once it is off the pallet. The system sets it down on the conveyor, and from there it continues to the filling or secondary packaging station.

Bottle, jar and can depalletizing

These products are unstable on their own and are built onto the pallet layer by layer, with a slip sheet between the layers. Unloading follows the same order: the layer is taken as a whole, the slip sheet is removed and the layer below is exposed.

Raw material bag feeding

A bag is not a pack the line carries onward: the job is not finished until the material inside is discharged into the process. Bags are therefore treated as a line of their own, described on this site as the Bag Depalletizing and Emptying Line.
